VOAs provide a necessary feature of variability to the field of attenuators. These particular devices allow for online adjusting of the main attenuators’ functions.

VOAs reduce the strength of an alternating-current signal. They do so continuously or in steps. Either way, they achieve the same results without causing appreciable signal distortion.
